ABOUT ME

Louise Bunn is a mixed media, abstract sculptor and painter with formal art training in Canada and the UK.  Drawing on philosophy, science, environmentalism, and a spiritual relationship with the world, and inspired by, stones, galaxies, and our place in the matrix of the natural world her works are colourful and lyrical meditations on place, time, and perception.  She employs a rich use of colour and texture, patterns and metaphor to create richly layered and lyrically abstract organic forms.

COSMOS SERIES

In this particular series, Louise is interested in how the patterns of the formation of galaxies and nebulae – echo the flows, eddies and swirlings of the turbulence found in water.

POETIC GEOLOGY SERIES

The begin point is stone.  Looking at the stones through a jeweller’s loupe, and finding there evidence of how the material world reacts to the pressures of time and change. The more deeply one looks into an object, the more surfaces are revealed — these inner and outer worlds inform and echo one another.

SPIRIT MARKERS AND SPIRIT HOUSES

A spirit house or marker is designed to attract beneficent spirits to your house or garden or to give a home to any which are already there.

GARNETS

These are inspired by my finding a soft micaceous stone with garnets embedded in it in a creek whilst out walking.  I have taken liberties with the colour, but not with my delight.
